Today, Day 5 of our AdvoCare 24 Day Challenge, has been…odd. The girls and I built a smoothie based on AdvoCare’s Muscle Gain Vanilla Protein. It is low carb (2-3g carb & 12g protein per scoop) which gave us more wiggle room on added fruit since we felt like a banana berry smoothie sounded good. We did three scoops of protein, 1 small banana, 1.25 C frozen mixed berries, 1/2 C coconut milk and ice. It was delish and hit the spot. I made refrigerator pickles last weekend so I had one of those, later a handful of grapes and then there were gluten free lemon scones. Mia made them and I did my parental job and had one. Coconut and tapioca flours made for some really fluffy treats that will definitely be made again! It ain’t rocket surgery! #fitfamily #fitmom #healthylife #blog #advocare #24daychallenge #munsonfamily #cleaneating #cleaneating #bettereveryday #glutenfree #smoothie

Day 4 of our AdvoCare 24 Day Challenge went like this…Thursday’s are another early-ish start to the gym work. It’s not crazy like it used to be (hello, 5am!) but it’s an odd time for me to eat as I do not like to eat before being in the heat so the day is started with a probiotic and Pink Lemonade Spark as I head out the door. Fiber drink when I get home followed up with eggs with sautéed onions and bell peppers, tomatoes and guacamole. For lunch today, Alyx and I weren’t really hungry because our breakfast wasn’t until almost noon so we made a fluffed up Meal Replacement Shake – 1 Iced Lemon Cake Shake with added coconut milk, frozen mixed berries with 2 Mandarin Orange Sparks added (1 for each of us) plus two handfuls of ice. Blend it in the Vitamix, split between the two of us and done! Easy! For dinner, Matt made a veggie and ground turkey with ground beef pasta sauce. Zucchini, broccoli, yellow squash and onions make this sauce well rounded. No pasta, no bread. Super filling and there are left overs for tomorrow. I don’t know if anyone has noticed but the AdvoCare 24 Day Challenge is built around clean eating and simplicity. I love systems and theirs is simple. Any day is a good day to start treating yourself right. I’d love for you to join us! #itsnotthathard #whattoeat #bettereveryday #cleaneating #fitover40 #munsonfamily #24daychallenge #advocare #blog #healthylife #fitmom #fitfamily

The start of day 3 of our 24 Day Challenge. Probiotics upon waking, fiber drink just before breakfast and then there’s this. Matt makes eggs for the four of us in one big pan then divvies up based on the person. Our girls are full grown adult size with one wanting to maintain and one needing to put some weight on. My goal is to lean up a bit but more importantly to get much cleaner in my diet as I’ve let things slide too much during stress. I get approx. 2.5 eggs with today’s being made with pico de gallo from last night’s dinner and a quarter of an apple. Let’s do this! #fitlife #easyfood #bettereveryday #spark #cleaneating #munsonfamily #healthylife #advocare #24daychallenge #blog

So here is my full day 2 food. I had things to do this morning and the girls were up to their eyeballs in school by the time I got home from work so we did a meal replacement shake which consisted of 2 chocolate meal replacement shake packs, 1 Tbsp almond butter, 1/2 C coconut milk and ice. Fast and easy!
Lunch was left overs from last night’s dinner – chicken breast and cauliflower plus some garlic and chipotle mashed sweet potatoes from Sunday’s dinner.
Dinner was home created chicken tacos with corn tortillas, rotisserie chicken meat, guacamole, pico de gallo, lettuce and a teeny sprinkling of shredded cheese.
I only had 1 Spark today and this afternoon I had a Biocharge. Tons of water (should say some liquid measurement but I don’t feel like it so…tons) and a sampling of watermelon and it’s off to bed with an herbal cleans and more water. Yumola! Came home from morning class and was SUPER snacky! Came up with this. Mashed banana, almond butter, handful of almonds and half a handful of pecans, chopped those and added coconut. Sliced up a Granny Smith Apple and go! This is the last bite. I’m trying to refrain from getting another two apples and finishing off the dip. #cleaneating #goodnitboring #healthylife #paleo #yum #eatrealfood #blog

Another page down. 2426 reps/calories plus a bunch of extra reps not counted just cuz. I’ve added running and interval work on rowing and bike. Easily doing double unders in workouts…finally. Missed a much needed massage this week but scheduled with a different guy for next week. Regular stretching and rolling out has to be augmented with a massage person who understands what I’m doing and what I’m trying to accomplish. Repair and prevention. Train smart and hard. #fitlife #fitoverforty #strongmama #massage #healthylife @m4munson #blog

Another page of effort complete. No PRs as this block was mostly a de-load week which followed a very tough last session. I needed rest. We forget how integral rest is in development but ever hard effort in the gym needs to be followed with rest, clean eating and supportive supplements to help your body rebuild and improve. Working out is pushing your body to its max and then a little bit more. That’s where the soreness comes from. Taking an NSAID (over the counter pain relief) prevents your body from rebuilding and improving because it tells your body, falsely, that there is no need for repair. Proper protein intake jump starts the rebuilding process by providing the raw parts for construction. AdvoCare’s Nighttime Recovery is amino acid and mineral blend that helps the body get into deep sleep which is where the recovery happens and it supplies important building blocks. Check it out. Contact your distributor or if you don’t have a distributor I’d be happy to help you out. Love training and AdvoCare! #blog #fitoverforty #advocare #nighttimerecovery #strongmama #healthylife

Getting enough water in is crucial always but now, when temps are rising and activity levels are too, is a big danged deal. Dehydration negatively impacts your ability to work out hard, it slows your thinking and shows up as head aches and being overly tired as well as hungry when they aren’t. Folks who do exercise are more prone to injuries when they are dehydrated. Adding citrus, mint, cucumbers and berries to water is a great way to improve the flavor without impacting your calorie load. I love my fruit infused water pitcher! It makes it easy to stay hydrated. #hydration #wellness #healthylife #blog #infusedwater
